A value often overlooked by many social service providers, TCC’s programs, services, space, and community are all centered around strengthening the whole person. When a guest walks in the door, they are greeted by name, invited to stay for lunch, and offered an opportunity to share their story. Our commitment to renewing dignity is a driving force behind our capital campaign. We place a high priority on offering services and programs in a manner that is welcoming and restorative to those who come through the doors.

A Hand-up, not a Handout

Many tax-based, cash-fueled programs seek to provide immediate relief via keys to a new apartment, cash in a bank account, or food stamps. While these programs are helpful in the short-term, too often they prolong generational poverty, offering little incentive to grow past the point of need. To be efficient and discreet, these programs minimize relationships, which is the very thing people in poverty need most to make progress. The Canby Center majors on relationship! The Canby Center specifically tailors our programs and services to meet essential needs while helping individuals develop skills and behaviors that foster sustainability for their future.
